Burnout, worry, defensiveness, perfectionism, criticism, control. Even missionaries battle these things when living and working in the stress of another culture. This class leads students to explore the heart sins underneath sinful behavior in their lives and relationships. A deeper look at how God sees and accepts us (our justification) and relates to us (our adoption as beloved children) brings power, renewal, and a process of change. The gospel not only saves us, it is the power by which we continue to grow and are renewed each day. Students revisit the ongoing role of the Spirit, the gospel, and the body for growth. The class spans the whole term and combines lecture, small group, and peer feedback exercises. This course is required for all those participating in CIT's Core FIVE or Complete Package.
