As trainers of cross-cultural workers, we at CIT are vitally interested in the adjustment of missionaries in their new culture. Recent studies show that nearly everyone benefits from ‘hands-on’ training when they arrive overseas. We recognize this and want to remain engaged in the success of personnel through their cross-cultural adjustment process. With this in mind, a new CIT Global team has been formed and is researching the potential of offering online training to both reinforce and extend the current CIT residential program.
First Term Survey
Our first project is to design a course that will help personnel in their first years overseas. Toward that end, we are conducting a survey to assess the needs and understand the realities of workers in their new culture. Specifically, we are surveying workers who have been overseas for less than four years as well as field supervisors who have insight into the adjustment of new personnel. The data generated by these surveys will help us design a relevant and impactful course. While these surveys are not designed to be an evaluation of CIT’s pre-field training, we think it will give us helpful insight into ways that that can be adjusted as well.

You can expect this simple survey to take less than 20 minutes of your time. Your privacy and anonymity will be respected. If you are married, you and your spouse should each fill out the survey individually. Please complete the survey by August 1, 2010.
