Cross-cultural living and ministry creates unique stresses on the individual missionary and family in a variety of ways. We will address those issues and seek to prepare you to successfully navigate those critical areas. We will address the practical and theoretical tools needed for ministry in a cross-cultural context.
This course introduces a wide variety of skills for successful language learning. Students will learn principles of effective language learning, practice language learning activities, train the ears to hear and the mouth to reproduce sounds in other languages. They will learn to become pro-active in language learning and acquire resources to help master language learning.
The seminar seeks to identify the characteristics of effective teams and team leadership. While the concept of "team" is popular in missions today, one of the highest named causes of missionary attrition is interpersonal conflict on teams. Participants are provided a context for self-evaluation regarding their own expectations and preparedness for team ministry, including capabilities as followers and leaders
One of the major reasons missionaries come home from the field is the inability to get along with other missionaries. This workshop, developed by Dr. Ken Williams (WBT), is designed to teach and reinforce the skills of effective interpersonal relationships as well as to challenge the student to personal growth.
Burnout, worry, defensiveness, perfectionism, criticism, control. Even missionaries battle these things when living and working in the stress of another culture. This class leads students to explore the heart sins underneath sinful behavior in their lives and relationships.
This seminar instills vision and biblical convictions regarding the priority of church multiplication for fulfilling the Great Commission. Missionaries are equipped to advance church-planting movements by facilitating the work of nationals through research, envisioning, networking, training, prayer, and resource development.
