                      CIT training values

  God centered

We acknowledge that ministry flows out of an intimate relationship with God. Therefore, we commit ourselves to maintain a vital, growing, personal relationship with God and to encourage our trainees to deepen their own relationship with Him.

  Bible based

We recognize that the Bible is God's standard for life and ministry and is the primary instrument for changing lives. Its principles are applicable to the content and process of training. Therefore, we commit to handle the Word of God accurately and to model it consistently.

  holy spirit cntrolled

We recognize that the Holy Spirit gives gifts and empowers both the trainer and the trainee to accomplish His supernatural work. No amount of knowledge, skills, experience and/or tools can replace His work in teaching and learning.

  prayer based

We recognize that without the Lord we can do nothing. We demonstrate our dependence on Him through prayer at every stage of training.

  servant leadership

We affirm that biblical training involves the giving of ourselves to help others be effective in life and ministry. Because this kind of training is motivated by love, we evidence an attitude of respect for our learners and are willing to sacrifice to meet their needs, without promoting an unhealthy dependence on us. We recognize that our ultimate purpose is to equip and empower our trainees to depend on Christ to accomplish His purposes in their lives.

  Integrity

We commit to adhere, in word and action, to a biblically-based ethical code that results in moral soundness above reproach, transparency to the point of vulnerability, and consistency to the place of trustworthiness.

  excellence

We commit to attain the highest level of competency that God has purposed for us and to a mindset that does not settle for mediocrity. We want to be and do our best, in His strength, for the glory of God and for the good of those we train.

  teachability

We commit to exhibit a teachable spirit because we consider ourselves fellow learners who are open to learn from and with our students; this attitude undergirds our commitment to life-long learning and development.

  culturally appropriate

We commit to exercise cultural sensitivity by teaching respect, understanding, and valuing the cultures in which our trainees will minister while adhering to biblical standards. We commit to appropriately adapt to cultural issues in our training whether in content, principles and/or methods.

  ministry multiplication

We recognize that training is not an end in itself but is a part of the process of ministry development. We affirm the principle of exponential training stated in 2 Timothy 2:2; therefore, we train so that our trainees will train others. We do this best by engaging the learners as full participants in the teaching/learning process.

  educationally sound

We commit to adhere to the recognized principles of teaching and learning, to use effective teaching strategies and to respect various learning styles. We commit to training that enables learners to think critically and to process and apply information to their lives and ministries.

  learner focused

We commit to respect the uniqueness of individuals, including their God-given gifts and abilities, and to focus on the learner’s character qualities, ministry skills and knowledge goals. We recognize that biblical training involves the whole person and influences every aspect of the learner --physical, emotional, intellectual, social and spiritual.

  practicality

We commit to training that correlates theory with practice by providing opportunities to reflect on previous experiences, current learning and the application of principles taught. We commit to teaching that results in learner response.

  evaluation

We recognize that evaluation is a necessary ingredient of training. We commit to loving, constructive evaluation that leads to continued improvement and excellence in life and ministry.

  continuing development

We commit to foster life-long learning and development through continuing education opportunities that produces quality and effectiveness in life and ministry.
